KODO

Subscription Management App

KODO helps busy people keep track and manage their subscriptions.

Challenge
How might we prevent users from paying for services they no longer use?

The Objective
KODO should enable users to manage and track their monthly and yearly subscriptions directly from the app.

Case Study

Design a subscription-tracking mobile app that matches the existing website.

The existing site has a homepage, calendar, reports, and help sections in the main navigation bar. These also served as the bottom navigation bar categories on the mobile platform to keep consistency between the two.

Interviews

To learn more, I conducted 5 interviews with participants who all happened to have past experiences with forgetting about subscriptions and payments.

User Flows

I created User Flows to establish how users would potentially interact with the platform and cancel any subscriptions they no longer need.

Sketches

Sketches were made from the user flows and then used to conduct guerilla testing. I received feedback on making elements larger to adjust visual hierarchy and make the users experience easier when tackling red routes.

Style Guide

I developed a style guide to reference throughout the development of high fidelity screens. Branding, Colors, Fonts, and UI elements are outlined to provide uniformity amongst the screens. The new KODO character was suggested in later usability testing join the users in the onboarding process and added to the final style guide.

Usability Testing

I conducted the last round of testing to see if there were any usability issues or new insights that could be adopted into the final prototype. Some of the user feedback I received suggested is shown below. I had great recommendations on features I could implement in future development.

Iterations

Final Screens

After making adjustments and refining screens, I created a final prototype with developed animations to showcase my solution to managing subscriptions. The final prototype can be accessed below.

Take Aways

My biggest lesson was being very mindful of navigation. Throughout all rounds of testing I encountered users that had difficulty finding features to complete their task flows. In future projects, I will put more focus on the information architecture and performing card sorts earlier.
